Kristiansand, Norway

I've been trying to find ministries in Kristiansand, Norway for the last few days. I found out from my cousin that our family has ties to this city on the Southern coast of Norway. I've had a desire for the last few years to minister in Norway, but I never knew where to start. Kristiansand seems like the right place. I can't find many ministries or Christian organizations on the net. This is maybe the third largest city on Norway, yet according to my searches it has very little Christian presence. How could this be? Please, if you know of a ministry or monastary or abbey or anything in Kristiansand please click on the comment button.

Why isn't there much of a christian presence in Kristiansand, Norway? It may well be that the people there are not interested in following that particular life style, and that's their personal choice, isn't it? I'm sure that the last thing the sensible, well-educated people of Kristiansand want is some foreign busy-body interfering in their lives and telling they ought to be christians. Or have you thought that perhaps they are christians but that they may be mature and polite enough to keep it to themselves?

You could very well be right. Maybe no one wants to be a Christian in that city. That's ok by me. I have other reasons for wanting to visit though. I'm sorry if I sounded like I wanted to force something on anyone. That's not my intention at all.

Actually, Kristiansand is a very religious town compared to many other Norwegian cities. Not being Christian myself I don't have any ties to any religious organizations, but there is a large religious community in the city, both in the young and old generations. The particular geographical location og this part of Norway is also commonly called the "bible belt", because of it's long history with religion, even if it is far from as predominant as it used to be.
It's a nice town to live in, no matter what your religious beliefs are.

I know this is several years late but we've been ministering in Kristiansand since 1993 and there is a lovely Christian presence there. Norway is a wonderful place to be and God is definitely moving in this beautiful country!

Hi Rebecca,
I would like to hear more about your ministry. I'm definitely rooted in Los Angeles, but I would like to visit and invest in Norway somehow since it is one of my ancestral lands. I would love to learn everything I can about the culture there.
